Lauren Cleary

Hello! My name is Lauren Cleary and I am currently a 4th year student at Michigan State University. I am majoring in Media and Information with a concentration in screenwriting, videography and editing. I am also working on my minor in Film Studies as well as a second degree in Psychology. Filmmaking is and always has been a source of creative energy, opportunity, and healing for me. I used to be terrified of vulnerability and sharing my struggles and obstacles through the lens of a camera or the pages of a script. However, I have found that not only am I capable of sharing important messages and creating resonance about things I care about but I am also capable of finding peace and value in my own life.

I recently decided to dedicate a series of short films to my cousin, brother, Jack who passed away November 26th, 2021 after a 3 year battle with cancer. Jack is one of the biggest reasons I am so passionate about filmmaking through his kindness, honesty, and ability to make you feel special and seen even on the darkest of days. LoHai Productions currently has 3 short film scripts in the works and plan to start shooting in the summer. 

I am orginally from East Lansing, Michigan and bleed GREEN and WHITE but I have long term goals to direct, produce and create my own films outside of the state.
